Becoming One

Heat filled hands grasp one another in a firm embrace
As the soldiers flex their battered bodies to cheer
A white tattered flag swings in the wind on both sides
An understood symbol world wide for surrender
High above a snowy dove floats in a clear sky
As sunlight filters around it's feathers like an angel's halo
Two feuding children decide to finally be friends
A dog and a cat play for the first time
The memories of fallen comrades and curdled screams
Are pushed to the back of their brains
