Semi-Honest Abe

Forescore and about 200 years ago,
Honest Abe came into the world.
A normal farmboy
with no clear vision
of his great destiny.
Proclaimed for his speaking skills
he never failed to impress
or bore.
He owned people as property
While preaching that this was wrong for our nation.
It is also true
that we will never have another
president like him
for "Abraham" is no longer a common name
and we are probably capable of better.
