He said he was not an abolitionist.
To prove this, he made the Emancipation Proclamation-
and his actions ended slavery, while he was president.

He said he was not pro-slavery.
To prove this, he owned slaves while living
in the white house, as president.

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky.
This state later did not take kindly to his actions concerning slavery,
that he made while he was president.

You can certainly say Abe was a man of his word-
never bending his personal opinions and principles to either side
of the disagreement of his states.
